Museum of Christian art and the history of the church of Bremen
The Dom-Museum (Cathedral Museum) in the Lutheran St. Peter's Cathedral was founded in 1987 to house finds from the medieval bishop's tombs, which were discovered in the 1970s during an archaeological excavation in the nave of the cathedral.
In addition to these grave goods and textiles from the 11th to the 15th century, the Dom-Museum displays ecclesiastical art objects (altar furnishings, paintings, sculpture, historic wall paintings), as an ecumenical museum also loans from the Bremen Catholic Church and offers an overview of the history of the Cathedral and the Archdiocese of Bremen. The Dom-Museum is run and looked after by the association Stiftung Bremer Dom e.V. on behalf of the owner (St. Peter's Cathedral Parish).
